FOUR WORKSHOPS ANNOUNCED FOR SEPTEMBER
Early Bird Prices Apply.
WORKSHOP 1 & 2: SOUNDS, LITERACY and DYSLEXIA - Sept 8th 2014
Learn about the link between sounds and literacy. What's the difference between phonological processing, phonological awareness and phonics? How can I best teach it? How do I recognise a student with dyslexia and what does this have to do with sounds? What is a speech pathologist's role? Each participant receives a USB stick full of resources, games, samples and notes.
This three hour workshop will be run twice on September 8th 2014. The morning session is for teachers, tutors and aides. The afternoon session is for speech pathologists. Download Sounds, Literacy and Dyslexia Flier and Registration Form
WORKSHOP 3: PUPPETS FOR LEARNING: SPEECH, LANGUAGE, LITERACY AND SOCIAL SKILLS - Sept 5th 2014
This popular workshop teaches you how to use puppets to engage, model, teach and inspire. It's NOT about performing a puppet show. Learn how to make a puppet come alive and use puppets to address a range of teaching goals. Each participant makes a great puppet to take home.
This full day workshop will be run on September 5th 2014. It is suitable for teachers, speech pathologists, psychologists, parents, tutors and aides. Download Puppet Workshop Flier and Registration Form
WORKSHOP 4: TEACHING GRAMMAR - Sept 4th 2014
What is grammar? Should it be "taught"? How can we make the learning fun and meaningful? This workshop covers development and disorders of grammar. Using Pelican Talk's Alien Talk program, we tackle the production and understanding of simple sentences. The afternoon of this workshop tackles complex sentences. Each participant receives the Alien Talk CD (valued at $70) and a USB stick full of grammar goodies! Download Teaching Grammar Flier and Registration Form
