Sounds Fun

Sounds Fun provides 3 picture card packs for developing phonological awareness. There is also a "Listening puppet" to help children refine their listening skills, first by identifying syllables, then rhyme and finally the first sounds in words.

Beats - 21 picture cards and three number cards which can be used to provide a range of activities for learning syllable segmentation.

Rhyme Time - focuses on 8 rhyme families (24 picture cards). Activities are suggested for identification and production of rhyming words.

First Sound - highlights six initial sounds (consonants) that are represented by 24 picture cards. Children are taught to identify and match pictures with the same initial sound, utilising a key word for each sound.

Uses: Sounds Fun will promote phonological awareness and thus help prepare students for literacy learning. The games can be used in small group activities for preschool, in learning centres in early primary classrooms or with individual students.

Target Population: Sounds Fun is suitable for children aged 3-6 years and is particularly relevant for children prior to formal literacy instruction
