Talking Pictures

A kit focusing on pragmatic skills and social awareness.

 There are 5 coloured "people filled" A4 scenes with accompanying language activities, speech & thinking bubbles, question prompt cards and even a magnifying glass!

• Encourage students to observe detail, particularly of the people, in scenes such as the school yard or the community swimming pool.
• Ask questions to stimulate discussion about what the people in the scenes might be saying or thinking.
• Discuss the cues in body language and facial expression that provide information about how people might be feeling in different social situations.
• Explore the student's opinions about how they might react or act in similar situations to those depicted in the illustrations.
• Use the scenes as a stimulus for a specific language focus in areas such as predicting, comparing,recounting, asking questions and vocabulary exploration.
